NEW MILAN FAIR COMPLEX OF RHO-PERO Milans New Exhibition Center
Strada Statale 33 del Sempione, 28
20017 Rho (Milano)
A large sail to launch Milan. A unique technological facility, with thousands of kilometres of optical fibre cables, radio-mobile stations, new connection and video-surveillance rings, a heating and cooling system designed using advanced solutions. The New Milan Fair Complex is the largest civil engineering construction created in Europe in the last few years.
The New Milan Fair Complex is distributed around 8 large one-storey and two-storey pavilions. Each building is divided up into 2 exhibition areas ( 4 in the two-storey building), for a total of 20 fairs and each one has its own services: reception, dining areas, meeting room, offices with relative technological supporting systems.
The access and movement routes have also been entirely redesigned: in fact, the circulation of means within the complex is distributed through three rings. The first, dedicated to "approaching viability", is for general users and traffic. The second is reserved to vehicles specifically destined for the complex (exhibitors, visitors, taxis, private buses) and can use the car parks within the fair. The third is exclusively dedicated to heavy vehicles and exhibitors vehicles and allows them to move within the complex from one place to another for loading and unloading of goods extremely quickly. All of the fairs have direct access by means of transport including the ones on the upper floor of the two-storey pavilions, fitted with ramps. Shuttle buses will connect the pavilions and the car parks (there are 20,000 parking spaces available, 3,000 of which in two-storey structures; close to the pavilions, another 5,000 parking spaces will be made available to exhibitors).
With regards to pedestrian routes, 28 tapis roulant along the indoor boulevard of the large glass and steel sail allow for people to move around along the central axis of the complex, on two levels. This backbone, 1,300 metres long and 32 metres wide, ( 41 metres at the extremities) made up from more than 100 thousand pieces which are all completely different and not interchangeable, represents the symbol element of the project: a "vertebral column" which, fitted with service structures, restaurants and show rooms, covers approximately 47,000 square metres.
Architecture designed for business, but not only. The Fair presents its own natural extension of an ad hoc structure created for communications, for the exchange and comparison of ideas: a congress centre divided up into ten halls for a total of 2,600 seats. Furthermore, each single-storey pavilion has small halls and another 8 meeting areas have been created along the central mall.
The multipurpose service centre (with press room, cloakroom, post office, bank, surveillance office, linguistic secretarial office, photocopies/fax centre, travel agency, pharmacy, shops) is located alongside the congress centres, in the central part of the sail.
The New Milan Fair Complex is born with a network of connection infrastructures that is unique in Italy for a new structure of this size: 8 underground stations spell out the 8,000 metres that separate the centre of Milan from the Fair Complex. The road and motorway system has been improved in terms of capacity as well as access (the junctions of the motorway to the Lakes and the Milan-Turin route are extremely important). Railway connections will be completed with the creation of the new "Fair" station along the route of the railway Pass of Milan and the High Capacity route between Turin and Milan.
For those who are looking for an hotel in the nearby the New Milan Fair Complex, the Hotel La Residenza of Milan represent the ideal solution: in fact, the hotel is only 11 km far from the fair, easily getting to by Milan Tangenziale Ovest direction Venice (exit Cormano).
