IDROSCALO: THE SEA IN MILAN, SUMMER 2010

Idroscalo, the sea in Milan, was born as airport for seaplanes, and now has become the heart of leisure activity for turists and citizens of different ages.
At only 10 km far from the Dome, you will find a park of 1 million and 600 thousand square meters, with a lake of 800 square meters inside.
Not far from the city it’s possible to sunbathe, to have a walk in the wood, maybe sighting ducks, swans and squirrels!
The program for the 2010 has the aim to combine spare time and nature, with a succesful mix of cultural, musical and sport events from June to September.

Also, what can you do at Idroscalo?
You can have a bath in the area next to the beach, cared from the safeguard, or have a trip on pedal boat, swim in the swimming pool of Punta dell’Est, attend with your children to laboratories and animations. The cultural project ReMida@muba (children museum) is very interesting: here rejected materials from industrial and craft production become creative resources. For children there is also a village, a theatre and a little train.

You can do many sports:
• Water sports, like sailboat, rowing, water ski and windsurf
• Land sports, like aerobics, self defense, beach volleyball, football, cross country, climbing, soft gymnastics, mountain biking, gym, basketball, handball, volleyball, skating, ping pong, tennis and yoga…

Idroscalo is the ideal place for those who want to spend some time far from the city chaos, in contact with a lot of species of flora and fauna: the best places at all are the flowered Island, perfect to have a run or to have a romantic walk, and the protected area of Virgo lake, whose access is allowed only if accompanied from an ecologic guide.

And in the evening?
On the 14, 21 and 28 July there's Blues in Idro, performances of great blues artists. On Thursdays music of the 50s, ballroom dancing Sundays. At the Idroscalo you can find a wide choice of theatre, bars and pubs for everyone! Cafè Solaire for happy hour and disco, Papaya Beach Club with bar, disco and live music. If you want to eat, you can choose among Central Park and Le Jardin au bord du Lac, there is also a cultural centre and multimedia artistic workshop called Magnolia, and two bars opened all the day long.
For those who can’t stay without Internet…in some areas there is wi fi connection!

How to reach Idroscalo from Eco Hotel La Residenza by public transport:

Reach the Dome with the MM3 from Maciachini square (yellow line), walk till San Babila, take the bus 73 till Linate. From Linate take the free shuttle 183 till Idroscalo.

Otherwise, from the Central Station take the bus directed to Linate airport and then take the free shuttle 183 till Idroscalo.
