The Maciachini Center is based on a project of total requalification of the former Carlo Erba area.
The concept which inspires the whole requalification is the idea of a polyfunctional park with buros, commercial and recreational areas, multiethnic restaurants, a big fitness center, cultural activities (among them an open-air theatre and the Puppet Museum), a congress centre, shops and other services. Moreover, the business park will have large green areas with fountains, streets and squares, in order to give to its visitors a nice sensation of space, quietness and safety.
The aim is to create an harmonic milieu not only inside the business park, but also in the perimeter roads, for which it is planned an improvement of the aspect of the city: in cooperation with the authorities it was decided the creation of a bike track, the elimination of the ironed ways and the construction of a square. Work, live, create: three concepts which are the heart of the project of the Maciachini Centre to renovate the idea of the business space.
The planning of the complex is aimed at the user’s satisfaction, through flexible and comfortable job spaces: so the buildings are characterized by stone and metal facades, modular and efficient plants, big and bright spaces, excellent systems of connection and high-quality design with a great functionality.
A great importance is also given to safety and technology which are fundamental themes of the project.
The Maciachini Center will be built in a few years.
The first stage (27.000 mq.), designed by the architect Maurice Kanah, has already been finished. The second one (29.000 mq.) will be completed within the middle of 2008 with the development of buildings to use for offices and lease contracts with companies like Sorin, Montblanc, Mattel, Universal Music, Macquarie Bank and 2S Banca s.p.a.. There is also an agreement with Zurich Italia to move its Italian headquarter to the directional center Maciachini. In the third stage it will be developed the areas dedicated to shops and the fitness center (9.000 mq) for Virgin Fitness, Panino Giusto, Autogrill and Europa Risorse. In the fourth stage other 30.000 mq. of offices will be developed.
In Italy the project is managed by Europa Risorse Srl, joint venture between Doughty Hanson Real Estate and Bpd Development.
The Maciachini Centre is located in the third ring of the city of Milan and it can be reached by the main public means of transport. The complex lies in a strategic location: it is on the virtual axis that from the center goes towards Corso Como, the Garibaldi area, through the area of the Maciachini complex and according to the new project for Niguarda and the Parco Nord.
The Hotel La Residenza is near the Maciachini Center: the hotel is at only 1 km far from Piazzale Maciachini and it can be easily reached by bus n°70 (5 stops) or by subway (yellow line - 2 stops).
